Tumuli (Kofun) of Chausuyama

On the mountainside Chausuyama (155m), there is the second largest kofun (tumulus) of the prefecture, and is thus a national designated historic site.
Although it is said to be the grave of the Hikoimasu as well as Prince Otomo’s family, it is not clear who is burried there. A thatching stone is laid over the entire mound, encircled by cylindrical haniwa, and a haniwa figure can be seen above the keyhole-shaped tumulus.
