Donoue Site

The site is located to the southwest of the Omi Provincial Capital Ruins on a small hill ridge looking down the River Seta. Through an archeological survey, the ruins of a group of buildings with foundation stones and tiled roofs, and a group of pillar-supported buildings with unique partitions were confirmed. This area was the junction of the roads toward Tokaido Road and Shigaraki and was a transportation hub. Since a tile marking the year 844 was excavated, it is believed to have been the ruins of a stage station of Seta that was closely related to the Provincial Capital.
