This is a branch temple of the Jodo Shin Sect Otani School Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto. It was reportedly founded by Kyonyo in 1600. The current main hall and the study (shoin) were built in 1649 and 1670, respectively, and were designated as Important Cultural Properties. The main hall has a vast outer sanctum, which is a feature of the main hall of the Jodo Shin Sect. In the study, illustrations of plants and flowers on the coffered ceiling, and illustrations of flowers and birds and illustrations of Rantei Kyokusui (Orchid Pavilion Gathering) on the walls and sliding doors are vividly drawn.
