Karausuyama Burial Mound

This burial mound was built on the hill ridge line in Suimei 1-Chome [Itchōme]. The mound was washed away, and the damaged stone chamber was exposed. Currently the size of the stone chamber is 5.75 meters in north-south direction, 1.5 meters in width and 1.7 meters in height. Cobblestones are laid in the stone chamber. Judging from the Sue ware shallow bowl and lid placed on the cobblestones, the burial mound is estimated to have been built around the early 7th century. A legend says that Ono no Imoko was buried here; however, it is considered unlikely.
