Ono no Takamura Shrine

This is a subordinate shrine in the precinct of Ono Shrine. Ono no Takamura, a poet as well as an excellent bureaucrat, is enshrined as the deity of this shrine. According to the shrine’s history, Sasaki Ujiyori built both Ononotakamura Shrine and Ononotofu Shrine in 1339. Since the style of this shrine is similar to Ono no Tofu Shrine which has a tag with construction information stating the year 1341, this shrine is believed to have been built in a similar period, and was designated as an Important Cultural Property. The main shrine employed a gable roof which was rare even in Japan.
