Suwa Shrine

It is enshrined at the top of Sekinotsu no Oka Hill. The deity enshrined in this shrine is Takeminakata no Kami. The main shrine employs the ikkensha-nagare-zukuri style, [which is characterized by the asymmetrical gable roof and two front columns approximately 1.8 meters apart]. The place of worship has hip-and-gable roofs, and it looks as if it was built on an exposed gigantic stone, which shows there had been a custom to worship gigantic stones since ancient times. The Oishi check point used to be in Sekinotsu in the Heian Period [between the late 8th and 12th centuries]. It is conceivable that the shrine was strongly related to the check point, considering its location.
