Sennichi-e Memorial Service

It is a memorial service that is held in the Kannondo Hall of Miidera Temple, the 14th stop on Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. A one-day visit on this day is deemed to be worth the merits of the visits of 1,000 days. Once the “one-thousand-day visits” used to be conducted, which involves visiting a shrine or temple to worship for 1,000 days, making a wish to a god. Later, in the Edo Period [between the 17th and mid-19th centuries], along with the dissemination of worshipping Kannon, a specific ennichi [a day related to a particular deity] was determined.
