Ceremony Commemorating Chisho Daishi’s Birth

The restorer of Miidera Temple, Chisho Daishi Enchin was born in March 25, 814 in current Zentsuji City, Kagawa Prefecture. Konzoji Temple, the 76th stop on Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, is his birth temple. His secular name was Wake. His mother’s maiden name was Saeki, and she was a niece of Kobo Daishi Kukai. At the ceremony commemorating Chisho Daishi’s birth, his statues are enshrined and the Hokke Zanmai-ho memorial service is conducted in the Toin Kanjodo Hall, chanting the Lotus Sutra.
