Tsutsujōmyō Tumulus

The 4 th year of the Jisho era (1180), Emperor Go-Shirakawa’s prince, Mochihito and Minamoto no Yorimasa rebelled against Taira no Kiyomori, and Tsutsui Jomyobo’s remains tells us that the Miidera temple fought in the battle of Uji Bridge. The battle is depicted in the “Bridge Battle” of the “Heike Monogatari”, and it is also a shinto body of the Yamaboko of the Kyoto Gion Festival “Jomyoyama”.
