Tanakami Fudoji Temple

It is the temple belonging to the Tendaijimon Sect located near the summit of Mt. Tanakami, and its official name is Taijinsan Fudoji Temple. Chisho Daishi Enchin who restored Miidera Temple founded this temple in 859 in the early Heian Period. The principal image is a statue of Fudo-son made by Enchin. The main hall designated as an Important Cultural Property was rebuilt in the Nanbokucho Period [between the mid and late 14th century] on top of a gigantic granite rock.
