Shinra-sha Memorial Service

It is a memorial service held in the Shinra Zenshindo Shrine where Shinra Myojin is enshrined. Its origin reportedly goes back to September 19, 1052 when the chief priest of Miidera, Myoson Daisojo, held a grand festival. Nowadays, all the monks of the temple attend to conduct the Hokke Zanmai-ho memorial service, chanting the Lotus Sutra. After the memorial service, they visit the grave of Minamoto no Yoshimitsu, a devotee of Shinra Myojin, who named himself Shinra Saburo.
