Ishiyamadera Bell Tower

The bell tower built to face the scripture house on the east side of the main hall is thought to have been rebuilt around the Gentoku era (1329-1331), and according to the temple’s reports it has been contributed to by Minamoto no Yoritomo . The multilayered back hakama’s upper layer’s back side is 5.6 meters, and both sides of the cypress bark hipped roof are 3.3 meters. When repairing in 1953, the hakama’s boarding was restored to the original white wall.
The upper layer is unsigned but the Heian Period Bronze Bell, known for its exquisite sounds, is hung and it has become an unusual structure that pulls a shrub from the lower layer.
