Ishiyamadera Image Hall

It is a hall that enshrines the founder of the Shingon sect Kōbō-Daishi and the portrait of third generation’s Ishiyamadera temple’s head priest and inner offerer Junyu. With a single story of cypress bark roof, the interior has become a style that does not fall in the early Muromachi period. According to “Ishiyamadera Yoki” and “Ishiyamadera Chronology Records” by high priest Sonken of the Edo period, originally it was called Sanmaido, or Hokkedo, and it was a dojo of the a dojo of the Hokke Sanmai sect, at the time of the reversing of Jubo Fugenin’s the portrait of third generation’s Ishiyamadera temple’s head priest and inner offerer Junyu, Kōbō-Daishi , priest Roben, inner offerer Junkyu’s image was transfered to Fugenin, and it became the image hall.
